We
have eaten here in the past, and loved the experience. The original
owners were truly french, and loved what they created. I was there
this past week...and wow! I am amazed that the new staff can
tolerate working under such a tyrant. And he is NOT french. He is
greek. And that would not be a big deal if he was a charming host.
But all he does is bark at the poor servers. They are running around
trying to help their tables, and it appears that they are helping
his as well. yup- I said it- the owner takes tables too!!! And I bet
he takes a hearty cut of the tip too! I am not even sure that that
is legal in california. The food is still wonderful. The restaurant
looks as though it has benefited from a fresh coat of paint. It
appears as though the same (amazingly talented spanish) chef is
working there. But my god- I felt so sorry for our server. She woudl
be talking to us, and he's in the back yelling at her to come do
something else. Talk about spoiling the dining experience. And when
we tried to tip her personally and generously, she insisted that it
not go into her pocket, and that it is pooled between her, the other
server (who was equally gracious and skilled) , the busser (who
could do not right in the owners eyes) and the owner takes a cut
too!? What a shame!! I love the food, and there is not much like it
around for the price point (though I noticed the prices did go up),
but the big man in the white coat is oppressive. If he knew what was
good for his investment, he would let someone else run the place!!
And leave the staff to do their job! They are great!

Luigi's Restaurant

We're from out of town & took
our chances on Luigi's. And it paid off! What a wonderful meal!
They were a little short-handed on service but the meal was
excellent & the one waitress was VERY efficient. Our two children
(ages 11 & 14) ate their entire meal (Tortellini with creamy pesto
sauce, & ravioli) & loved it! We also ordered Alfredo Penne with
Gorgonzola Cream. Excellent! I was not impressed with the Chicken
Pollo on grilled spinach with roasted potatoes. I found it moist,
but with little flavor. Overall though the meal was excellent. We
would definitely recommend it & return for another visit. Another
plus were the pool tables that the kids were able to play on while
we finished our wine. Made for a relaxing, satisfying meal! Would
definitely recommend Luigi's!
