Poway, California

Poway began as an important link in the 1800s as part of the Southern California stagecoach network. Since then it has become a family-oriented community. Visitors enjoy golf, tennis, racquetball, swimming, volleyball, batting cages, softball and more than 50 miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking, jogging, running and  walking.   You can hop on the Poway Trolley and enjoy a variety of shopping centers, restaurants, theaters and retail shops.  The climate is mild, and there is 140 acres of developed parkland, Lake Poway recreational area and nearly 3000 acres of dedicated public open space. Poway is located just east of Interstate 15, about twenty miles north east of San Diego.

Attractions include Old Poway Park, a 5 acre site showcasing turn-of-the-century buildings, walking trails, gazebo, restaurant, Heritage Museum and working period steam locomotives.  The Poway Center for the Performing Arts host professional and community entertainment.   The Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, a pristine canyon set aside for wildlife by the State Department of Fish and Game.  Lake Poway & Clyde E. Rexrode Wilderness area, stocked for fishing, the 50 acre lake features sailing, boating, play areas, picnic grounds and trails. Bernardo Winery and the Farmer's Market are also favorites.
