The
Friendly Located just 15 minutes east of San Diego on Interstate-8 in the
friendly City of El Cajon, the Downtown El Cajon district is the historic
crossroads of the vast East County region. In 1880, Amaziah L. Knox built
a seven-room hotel at the intersection of two wagon trails in this rural
valley surrounded by mountains. Today, that intersection is the corner of
Main Street and Magnolia Avenue, the heart of El Cajon's Historic
Downtown. Knox's hotel still stands now at Park & Magnolia, and is one of
the many historic buildings and museums in the Downtown area.
