Traditional Indian food at its best!, 02-09-2009

Review:
Traditional Indian food at its best! From delicious appetizers like crispy stuffed samosas to a full lineup of Tandoori specialties, to house favorites like the sweet/savory chicken tikka masala, the menu has it all. The food was superb and served at appropriate temperatures. Nice food presentation, but not overdone. We loved both chutneys and the lentil crackers on the table were fantastic too! We cannot wait to try the lunch buffet!
The Owners Sam and Jag Kambo paid attention to the details. Exotically lit and furnished, the dining room features organic stone walls with a ceiling–to–floor wall fountain and half-moon booths perfect for people watching. The bar and backsplash are made of rich mahogany wood imported from India. The archways are carved into classic ogee curves. And let us not forget, the belly dancer that moves with magical grace on Friday and Saturday nights.

I can say finally found a good Indian restaurant in San Diego., 02-09-2009

Review:
I have been in San Diego for three years and moved from San Francisco. In last three years I tried Indian food in almost every Indian restaurant in San Diego from Mira Mesa to Down Town San Diego because I love Indian food and I am really picky about my curry but could not get good curry with real flavour and taste in San Diego. Last week I saw one Indian restaurant featured in Union Tribune so I went to try Royal India Exquisite Indian Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge in down town San Diego at 329 Market Street, San Diego, CA 92101. I can say finally found a good Indian restaurant in San Diego. An excellent ambiance gave a picture of palaces of India. Very beautiful arches with some kind of Mosaic stone work on it. Very beautiful hand carved wooden full bar. Beautiful stone work with niches in it, Large Water fall and huge chandlers. Over all number one and the best Indian restaurant I have ever seen and I have been to one of the Best Indian restaurants from East coast to west coast. Main thing is we wanted to try different items from what most Indian restaurants serve the food I tried Chicken mango Pineapple curry, Lamb Chilli Ginger masala, Chicken Garlic Kabab which was served on sizzler with Paneer Nan which is stuffed with spiced Indian cheese in Nan Bread and from fresh to flavour it was exceptionally food. Mango Pineapple curry was so good we ordered second one and Garlic Kabab was really tender. We tried Rus Malai dessert which was superb. Myself , my wife and our friend Dr. Kingdrew loved our Indian food and we will be back again to Royal India.

We'll definitely go back., 02-09-2009

Delicious food. I had the lobster korma, but our party of six ordered a variety of dishes and everyone loved their food. The waitress was a little slow, but the owner/manager picked up the slack and took our orders for her. He was very thorough in explaining each dish and making recommendations, all which turned out to be perfect. A word of caution - the food was not as spicy as the waiter made it sound; feel free to go "hot" if you like hot food, even though they may try to make you go "medium". Another bonus was that we went at 8pm on a Saturday and there was *gasp* NO WAIT! We'll definitely go back.

All I can say about Royal India is WOW..., 02-09-2009

Review:
All I can say about Royal India is WOW... from the restaurant space- beautiful mosaic arches, waterfall, large chandelier knowledgeable staff, amazing food at Royal India located in the Gas lamp area of San Diego at 329 Market Street, San Diego, CA 92101. First, it's great that the wooden hand carved bar is in the lounge hall and the main dining rooms are Waterfall room and Royal room because we were able to walk and not feel under-dressed. We ordered the small plates-- the pakoras, tandoori shrimp, lobster korma, chicken basmati pilaf and the paneer Nan. All dishes we chose were impeccable. The chutneys--tamarind and mint were excellent as well. To top it off we had mango moose pops that left us speechless--it was creamy and tasty. Dining at Royal India was a great experience and has taken Indian cuisine to the next level of fine dining.

Great date place for business dinner., 02-09-2009

Review:
Royal India managers owners and the whole team put lot of efforts in making sure you get the best of the best. The servers are always on top of their game and make sure that your night is tip top! Great date place for business dinner. a lot delicious. Royal India had the best tandoori chicken I have ever tasted.... , I don’t know what is it marinated in but I can tell you it's delicious. The chutney greenish with lemon juice and green chillies and tamrind on the other hand bit sweeter..., though combining both together taste great and the service were all great. Great place for a business meal, or a date

Review:
OH MY GOD!!! coming from England and finding Royal India place was a dream come true, believe me I know Indian food coming from the "Balti Belt" There are plenty of "Indian" restaurants in San Diego but please know Royal India is the most authentic you will possibly get! The portions are superb, the Executive Chefs and owners, I beleive there names are Sam and Jag, are without a doubt the most personable and helpful chefs I have ever encountered! They guided us through the extensive menu with such flair and grace. They actually seemed to know our tastes and needs just from speaking to us for no more than 10 mins, I know the food but my guests had never had Indian food before. To say they were impressed would be an understatment! FIRST RATE!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!
