Ok, 08-19-2011 By: Reviewer Review: Came here on a Sunday around noon for brunch. They actually have both a lunch and a brunch menu available if you go there at this time, so lots of selection. Parking is a bit scarce in Mission Hills, but we got lucky around the corner (for parking, you filthy perv). Wasnt very crowded, which for noon on Sunday could be a bad sign for a place. But service was attentive (it better be when hardly anyone is there) and we got started with mimosas and a cafe mocha. Food was priced well ($7.95 for french toast), and overall was a good meal. The turkey panini we ordered came out pretty quickly, as did the truffle fries. But the french toast took like 45 minutes...it was literally just 2 slices of french toast, cut in quarters, with strawberries on the side. It was delicious, but 45 minutes? When we ordered the server specifically asked us "Do you want one thing before another or just as the food is ready?" We said just bring everything out as it's ready, we werent in need of anything in a particular order. So that means the french toast literally took them 45 minutes to make. With only 4 other tables at the restaurant, they lost a star for that one. We were well done with the panini and fries 20 minutes before the toast came out. I actually asked the server if they forgot to put the order in, to which he replied "oh it's coming right up". Hmmm. Overall I liked the decor, and the service was good...assuming that they really didnt forget to put in the french toast order. Only other ding was that the top to the syrup pourer came off in our hands right after we picked it up...it was a near-disaster as the syrup bottle crashed back down to the table, with the top handle still in hand. If that were over my lap or my food I wouldnt been suuuuuper pissed. Can you imagine how hard it would be to get a bottle of syrup out of your clothes? Or wait another 45 minutes for another french toast?! Had to screw the top back on tight, but I think it was broken. Gonna try this place for dinner at some point as well, but until then, I'd give it a "If you're in the 'hood, and want some french toast but aren't in a hurry, check it out."
